Kevin Anderson topples John Isner in longest ever Wimbledon semi-final

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic is a matchup that brings a lot of memories.

The 36-year-old American takes on Angelique Kerber, who lost to Williams in the 2016 final.

Eight years ago, he was enshrined in Wimbledon folklore for winning the "endless match" - an 11 hour, five minute humdinger against Frenchman Nicolas Mahut that Isner edged 70-68 in the decider. That was played on Court 18, which now bears a plaque commemorating the record-setter.

The Anderson-Isner match, the second-longest in Wimbledon history, marked the second time in a 48-hour span that Anderson had played a marathon fifth set at the All England Club.

The 33-year-old agreed with Anderson that all Slams should introduce a tiebreak in the final set and fall in line with the US Open.

Anderson, 32, will vie for the title on Sunday against the victor of the match between Nadal, the world No. 1, and three-time champion Novak Djokovic. "But as I understood, they already made a decision".

France dictated the pace of the game with Griezmann's speed troubling the plucky Croats. Coach Zlatko Dalic said his players should be proud of their achievements.

Play is set to resume at 1pm BST in this second men's semi-final between Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal.

Occasionally there were outbreaks of tennis amid the thudding serves, with one 23-shot rally won by Anderson at 6-5 in the first set.

"They've paid to see two matches, and they came pretty close to only seeing one match", Anderson said.

"Of course, we want this trophy".

Anderson and Isner go way back, to their days when they played in college, Isner at Georgia, Anderson at IL.

There is not much difference between them.

But navigators say this understates their accomplishments. "Let ObamaCare implode, then deal", Trump tweeted on July 28, 2017. This year they helped sign up almost 520,000 people for health insurance sold through the ACA exchange in North Carolina.

At 6 ft 8', Kevin Anderson became the tallest Wimbledon finalist in 132 editions of the championships. Isner pounded his at up to 142 miles per hour; Anderson reached 136 miles per hour.

"I'm trying to get to where he's already been", said Isner, who has won all 95 of his service games this fortnight, thanks in part to a tournament-leading 161 aces.

And the serving? Well, that was something else. Isner pounded his at up to 142 miles per hour; Anderson reached 136 miles per hour.

When it was all done and dusted, there were no wild roars, no fist pumping and no raised arms in celebration - all Anderson had left in him was to give Isner a sympathetic hug after he came out on top in the second longest match ever contested at the All England Club.

The American's response was immediate, breaking straight back in the next game as Anderson served for a two sets to love lead at 5-3. Isner took that set on his third chance, when Anderson flubbed a forehand.

At 4-4 in the fourth, it was Isner who faltered, getting broken.

"I'm just going through things, flashbacks of the last 15 months, and everything I've been through to get here". Could this be it?

Isaiah Thomas gets another shot at National Basketball Association relevance
After a few days of inaction, the National Basketball Association free agent market is suddenly back in full swing. Entering his eighth National Basketball Association season, Isaiah Thomas apparently will be joining a sixth team.

For tournaments without a final set tiebreaker, put John Isner on Centre Court at your own peril. Another break point for Anderson arrived at 10-10, but he shanked a backhand. The 10-all game ended with Isner hitting a forehand passing victor on the run to hold, then letting his momentum carry him directly to his sideline chair, where he plopped himself down.
