‘No rush for speed’ in N. Korea’s denuclearization, sanctions still in place

Just a few weeks ago, the US blocked a Chinese effort to "adjust the measures on the DPRK" in light of President Trump's ostensibly successful summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

On Tuesday he said there was "no time limit" on the process.

"The president. was saying "No" to answering questions", White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said at a news briefing later.

He said afterward there was no longer a nuclear threat from the North, though Kim agreed only to "work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula", and no binding agreement was established.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is due to informally brief U.N. Security Council envoys along with South Korea and Japan on Friday on North Korea.
