Trump adds on the Putin meeting: "Also, we got along very well, which is a good thing, except for the Corrupt Media!"

Trump's tweets on Thursday come as he has alternated between trying to quell a political uproar over his comments in Helsinki - he refused to back the United States intelligence community's assessment of Russian efforts to influence the 2016 election during a joint news conference with Putin, instead touting Putin's strong denials - and his desire to not back down or apologize over his performance.

As President Donald Trump found himself under pressure from his own party this past week, Republican U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania reached for his shield.

He went on to highlight the intelligence community's efforts to "inform and support President Trump's ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling" in the upcoming midterm elections, as well as to help the US President to "build strong relationships internationally in order to maintain peace,"pave the way for the denuclearization of "dangerous regimes" and ensure the security of the US and its allies".

That "Fake Dirty Dossier" is "responsible for starting the totally conflicted and discredited Mueller Witch Hunt!" "The Democrats want to try to find that one drop of blood in the water so that they can focus on Russian Federation, their favorite subject". But Trump cast doubt once again in a Sunday tweet, diminishing at least the significance, if not the existence, of the interference and the US investigation into Russia's actions.
