Virat Kohli single-handedly battled against the England bowlers in harsh conditions and scored a scintillating century on the second day of play of the first Tests.

The India captain blew his opposite number a kiss, put his finger to his mouth, appeared to summon some choice words - and also reminded Root of his own "mic-drop" gesture after his second successive century had clinched the one-day global series for England.

He was the last man to be dismmised and ended with 149 off 255 deliveries.
