James has made no secret of his political opinions, calling Trump "a bum" past year and telling CNN's Don Lemon last week that he would "would never sit across" from the president, prompting Trump to insult James' intelligence.

Navarro noted that Trump's rhetoric criticizing people who are African-American has a long history, pointing to his "s**thole countries" remarks and his attacks on National Football League players kneeling to protest police violence against others who are African-American.
