The U-series and Y-series CPUs, previously code-named Whiskey Lake and Amber Lake, have been specially designed for midrange laptops and lightweight 2-in-1s laptops respectively. Compared to a 7th Generation Kaby Lake processor, we supposedly can expect double-digit gains in office productivity for everyday web browsing and light content creation. A reference PC built using one of the new U-series CPUs, for example, rendered a 4K video 6.5X faster than its predecessor, Intel said, and handled Adobe Lightroom edits at 2.9X the speed.

The new 14nm architecture is optimized for connectivity in thin and light laptops as well as 2-in-1s promising great performance and battery life. Intel hopes the new 8th gen Core U- and Y-Series mobile processors will significantly add to this number.

And the most powerful processor in the Y series is the i7-8500Y with a basic frequency of 1.5 GHz that can automatically reach 4.2 GHz.

White House Quickly Raises Flag Back to Full Staff After McCain’s Death
Twitter users also bashed Trump for sharing an Instagram post about McCain's death that featured a picture of himself. McCain's plane was shot down over Hanoi in 1967 during a bombing run.

Popular PC and laptop chipmaker, Intel, today expanded its 8th Gen Core processor line-up.

Intel is focusing on Gigabit wireless speed up to 1600 Mbps, eSIM, and Intel Gigabit LTE modem support. On top of that, all of these new U-Series mobile CPUs are integrated with Intel's latest Gigabit Wi-Fi module.

Under the title "Optimized for Connectivity", Intel promotes Whiskey Lake processors of the eighth generation and focuses on reliability. So the only thing new this generation is Gigabit Wi-Fi support via Intel Wireless-AC.

Laptops and 2-in-1 devices powered by the new 8th Gen Intel Core U-series and Y-series processors will be available from PC manufacturers later this year. The U and Y-series chips may also provide enough of a performance boost to convince people holding into older computers to upgrade. The U-series CPUs support Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Games such as World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and "World of Tanks work too". These processor will power utra-sleek, thin-and-light designs less than 7 millimeters thick devices.

Previous 8th-gen chips claimed to be 10 to 20 per cent faster than the 7th generation, so it is safe to assume these chips also have that moderate improvement to speed.
