Coca-Cola to produce the drink with marijuana

According to a report by BNN Bloomberg, sources said that the world's largest beverage company is interested "in developing beverages that are infused with cannabidiol, commonly referred to as CBD, the non-psychoactive chemical found in marijuana plants".

Coke would join a rush by major alcohol makers and a cigarette company to test the cannabis market and find partners ahead of the October 17 launch of legal recreational marijuana in Canada. "However, we have a responsibility to our shareholders to give proper consideration to all relevant opportunities that are presented", said Heather MacGregor from the Aurora.

A spokesperson for Coca-Cola declined to comment on the Bloomberg report but said the company is "closely watching" the growth of non-psychoactive CBD.

Two weeks later, spirits company Constellation Brands announced a new $4 billion in investment in Canada's Canopy Growth in exchange for a 38 percent stake in Canopy. Heineken's Lagunitas craft-brewing label has launched a brand specializing in non-alcoholic drinks infused with THC, marijuana's active ingredient. It can be purchased at marijuana dispensaries in California.

They also complained that the committee scheduled Ford to "testify at the same table as Judge Kavanaugh in front of two dozen U.S. Dick Durbin of IL , the No. 2 Democrat, said Judge is needed "specifically and personally as an eyewitness to the occurrence".

Coke's possible foray into the marijuana sector comes as beverage makers are trying to add cannabis as a trendy ingredient while their traditional businesses slow. The company last month said it would acquire the Costa Coffee chain for $5.1 billion.

Canada is set to legalize cannabis on October 17 after both houses of Parliament voted to make the drug available for recreational use. The first-ever medical treatment derived from a marijuana plant will hit the USA market soon, after regulators in June gave an epilepsy treatment by GW Pharmaceuticals the green light. It includes CBD as well.
