Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was freed from jail tonight after a court suspended his sentence for corruption pending an appeal.
The court suspended the sentences of Sharif and his daughter Maryam after they were convicted in July just before Pakistan held its general election. The shocking verdict left everyone talking online and most were very unhappy.
Prosecutors in the case, the National Accountability Bureau, said they would appeal Wednesday s ruling and take the case against Sharif to the country s Supreme Court.
Another supporter in the crowd, Naveed Abbasi, said he is convinced Sharif was a victim of conspiracy but that, "God willing, the people will make Nawaz Sharif the prime minister again. for a record fourth time". Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to ten years in prison, while Maryam was imprisoned for seven years.

While supporters of Sharif broke out in exuberant celebrations, reaction online was quite different.
Sharif, who served three non-consecutive terms as prime minister, was in London during his trial earlier this year.
" 'This is a triumph of justice, ' said Sharif ally and former Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif who was outside the court".
Sharif and his daughter and son-in-law were released on a bail for the burial at Lahore.
They were charged with corrupt practices linked to the Sharif family's ownership of luxury flats in London.
