Registered PlayStation 4 system software beta testers will be the first to test the PSN name change option feature, after it rolls out.

Sony Interactive Entertainment will launch a preview program to test PlayStation Network online ID changes at the end of November, ahead of the feature's full release in early 2019, the company announced.

Google exposed data for hundreds of thousands of users
This data is limited to static, optional Google + Profile fields including name, email address, occupation, gender and age. Saikali said it was possible that Google could face class action lawsuits over its decision not to disclose the breach.

Sony has confirmed that name changes are indeed coming to PlayStation, allowing people to change their PlayStation Network usernames. The blog states that, "During the preview program, you will be able to change your online ID as many times as you want".

One handy feature is that you can display your old ID once you change our name, just so your mates recognise you. The first name change will be free, but to discourage abuse, each further name change will cost £7.99 or £3.99 if you are a Plus subscriber. Note that anything and everything is subject to change as the feature goes from preview to full release, depending on how it works and other user feedback. In addition, when this feature officially launches, a list of compatible games published before April 1, 2018, will be provided on PlayStation.com for reference before you make a change.

Changes to an online ID can be made through the Settings menu or via the Profile page of a PS4. Changing your PSN name is compatible with games published after April 1, 2018, as well as some of PS4's "most-played" titles to date. You can, however, revert once to your original ID for free, and that should fix any glitches.
