GRAMMYs 2019: Listen to All of the Album of the Year Nominees

A possible factor in the increase in female representation was the Recording Academy's decision to expand the shortlists from five to eight in the big-four categories: best album, song, record and new artist.

- Best rap album: "Invasion of Privacy", Cardi B; "Swimming", Mac Miller; "Victory Lap", Nipsey Hussle; "Daytona", Pusha T; "Astroworld", Travis Scott.

Drake, a Grammy veteran, also sits at the top of the list with seven nominations for his 2018 album, Scorpion. As well, Drake collaborators Boi-1da and Noah Shebib were nominated for their production work.

But the big news is the high number of women nominees, after being largely left out previous year.

Trump to pick State Department spokeswoman for United Nations ambassador
All the while, she stayed in the good graces of the White House, even as Tillerson was increasingly on the outs. But Trump has also used the United Nations to try to advance his foreign policy agenda on Iran and North Korea.

Six of the eight best new artist nominees are women, including H.E.R., Chloe x Halle, Dua Lipa, Margo Price, Bebe Rexha and Jorja Smith.

While the project hits some very high points - "I Like It", for example, is perfectly at home in the "Record of the Year" category - it was inconsistent as a whole.

Beck's newest music has been mostly just fine. But popularity and easy listening doesn't always equate to "Album of the Year" potential. West, who has never won a Grammy in a major category, was also nominated for just one Grammy, for best non-classical producer.

Taylor Swift, a two-time album of the year victor, also only earned one nomination. The Nanaimo, B.C. singer and Bennett's rendition of 'S Wonderful is up for best pop duo performance, while their Love is Here to Stay is in the running for traditional pop vocal album.

Ada Hegerberg and Luka Modric named 2018 Ballon d'Or winners
The 23-year-old striker declined and then delivered an excellent speech where she encouraged more women to play football. I wanted to end with some words for young girls around the world: "believe in yourselves", she said.

- Best pop solo performance: "Colors", Beck; "Havana (Live)", Camila Cabello; "God Is A Woman", Ariana Grande; "Joanne (Where Do You Think You're Goin'?)", Lady Gaga; "Better Now", Post Malone.

The Grammys seem intent upon rewarding the embattled musical veteran - whose best music came in the '90s, in the form of oddball rock with a twisty take on hip-hop trends - for music that's thoroughly pleasant, but rarely much more.

He'll face competition at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, from fellow rappers Drake, Cardi B and Childish Gambino - as well as Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who snared nominations in both of those top categories for their hit "Shallow" from the film "A Star is Born". She was nominated in 1997 for her album, Lyrically Potent. In 2017, his wife, Beyoncé received nine Grammy nominations, but when she only won best urban contemporary album and best music video, Adele asked during her acceptance speech, "What does Beyoncé have to do to win album of the year?"

Tyson Fury calls out Anthony Joshua after split draw with Deontay Wilder
I'm staying in downtown LA but if you go five minutes down the road there's like - I don't know - thousands of homeless people. Fury struggled to generate consistent offense until a strong sixth round, likely costing himself early rounds.
