New York Yankees are very much in play for Manny Machado

A video grabbing national attention, taken by ESPN SportsCenter reporter Coley Harvey, shows a Philly construction worker hunting Major League Baseball free agent Manny Machado down as he gets out of his SUV to meet with the Phillies organization Thursday. Yesterday did bring about a small flurry of free-agent activity - Trevor Cahill, Daniel Murphy, Joakim Soria and Anibal Sanchez all agreed to terms, while Andrew Miller is said to be close - but none of those deals will come close to approaching the magnitude of Machado's eventual contract.

According to Fancred Sports, Machado told the three teams he met with earlier this week that he will not decide who he will play for until the new year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes Man United January signings with £50m budget
The Belgium worldwide has been critcised for his performances this season with just six goals in 22 appearances so far. But Lukaku could be in contention for United's clash against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on December 30.

Machado showed up at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to hear the Bronx Bombers' pitch on why he should sign up to wear pinstripes in 2019 in beyond.

Heyman also listed the Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies as the top landing spots for Machado. With the holiday season at hand, there figures to be a lull in Hot Stove activity, so barring a quick decision on an already in-place offer, Machado's free agency could well drag on into the New Year.

James Mattis retiring as Trump's defense secretary in February
It would be a Christmas miracle if the Trump administration didn't have a staff shake-up before the end of the year. Secretary of Defense James Mattis is stepping down at an extraordinarily fraught moment in American foreign policy.

Last season, he batted nearly.300 with 37 home runs and 107 RBI.

The Yankees will have to do more work on their starting rotation, but Machado is worth spending big. Still, the presumption is the Yankees get whatever they want, so if they want Machado they will make him the proverbial offer he can't refuse. Adding a player of his caliber certainly improves a Yankees team that was defeated by Boston in the ALDS but he's not enough of an upgrade to make us panic.

The Russian activity went far beyond the three tech companies that provided information, reaching many smaller sites as well. Trump has denied any collusion between Russian Federation and his campaign.
