Labour could offer second European Union referendum, says Barry Gardiner

Under forceful questioning from the BBC, May said that there should not be a second referendum.

But former Brexit minister Steve Baker rejected the proposals, saying they were a "tedious and desperate attempt to rescue an unsalvageable deal".

Asked if she would lead the country into a no-deal Brexit, she replied said: "I have always said that no deal was better than a bad deal".
