Latest Democrat to Go After Trump in 2020: Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota

While she touched on a variety of issues where she differs from the president, Klobuchar didn't name Trump in her almost half-hour speech.

But tainting her big announcement on Sunday is a recent report by the Huffington Post claiming three people have withdrawn from consideration to lead Klobuchar's campaign because of an alleged history of mistreating her staff.

A Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom poll conducted by Selzer & Company in December found that Klobuchar was largely unfamiliar to likely Iowa caucus-goers, with 54 per cent saying they didn't know enough about her to have an opinion, while 38 per cent had a favourable opinion and 8 per cent had an unfavourable opinion.

Klobuchar's team believes there is an opening in the Democratic primary for someone who is able to relate to voters in Iowa because of her local ties, but is also able to talk to Democrats eager to beat Trump in 2020 as well as win back Trump voters.

Second woman accuses Virginia's Lt Governor of sexual assault
Calls for Fairfax to step aside have come from many people, including several potential Democratic presidential hopefuls. The allegations against Fairfax are attached to one of the most turbulent weeks in the history of Virginia politics.

A record total of five women have so far entered the race for the presidency - these also include Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Tulsi Gabbard, and Kirsten Gillibrand. "It is time to organize, time to galvanize, time to take back our democracy".

The field soon could expand to include prominent Democrats such as former Vice President Joe Biden of DE and Vermont Sen.

Klobuchar developed a higher profile nationally last fall when she questioned then-Supreme Court hopeful Brett Kavanaugh about his drinking habits. "The way Sen. Klobuchar behaves in private with her staff is very different than when she's in the public eye, and that kind of cruelty shouldn't be acceptable for anyone".

"I have mixed feelings about her chances", Rozen said. He later apologized to the senator, who has said her father was an alcoholic. "I have neighbors. I have all of you".

For the last two years, every Summer the English versatile has been linked with a move away from United. Be it a big money move to China or to some of the fellow Premier league sides.

Warren went to Iowa to campaign on Sunday after formally launching her bid on Saturday. "And I can tell you as someone who's run some pretty tough campaigns in Southern Minnesota's rural First District, there is nobody you want on the ballot more than Amy Klobuchar", Walz said.

"That sense of community is fracturing across our nation right now, worn down by the petty and vicious nature of our politics", Klobuchar said.

She has been measured in her criticism of Trump, attacking the effects of his trade tariffs on farmers but avoiding more explosive issues like immigration and gun control. Other senators, including Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and the 2016 runner-up to the nomination, Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., are considering bids.

She's has been seen as a Democratic rising star, even though her time in an increasingly partisan Senate has yet to see her emerge as the author of grand legislation. While Trump lost Minnesota by roughly 1.5 percent during the 2016 presidential election, the two politicians appeal to the same type of blue-collar workers. After living with the orange rage of Trump, Klobuchar's "Minnesota-nice" persona is a welcome relief. She earned a law degree from the University of Chicago, and in 1998 was elected as attorney of Hennepin County, which is Minnesota's most populous. I have high expectations for the people who work for me.

Thailand blames Aust for al-Araibi plight
On Monday the Thai criminal court gave al-Araibi's lawyers 60 days to prepare a defence to Bahrain's request and refused bail. Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne called on Thai authorities to use their discretion in Araibi's case.

Her status as a neighbor to the first state to cast ballots in 2020 may be beneficial, as Klobuchar clearly suggested in her speech Sunday.
