Minnesota Vikings sign Anthony Barr: Grade, reaction and more

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reports Barr told NY he "had to sleep on it" after planning to sign and then the Vikings presented a better offer on Tuesday, which Barr then agreed to.

After telling the New York Jets he meant to sign with them, linebacker Anthony Barr got cold feet, changed his mind and informed the Vikings that he will be returning to Minnesota, a source confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

The blitzing linebacker was the Jets' first coup of free agency and was followed Tuesday morning by reports they had signed C.J. Mosley to a five-year, $85 million deal.

We had to win this game but gave them something to latch onto, some belief and after the first one goes in it could go either way. Saints were far more convincing and deservedly drew level through Valery's second goal in two games.

Terms of the deal were not reported.

The Vikings gave Barr some work with their defensive linemen during training camp last year, in an effort to refine his pass-rushing skills under position coach Andre Patterson's tutelage; he posted all three of his sacks in December, and finished the year as the NFL's most productive pass-rushing linebacker based on how frequently he pressured the quarterback, according to Pro Football Focus.

Barr will instead remain with the Vikings.

Named to four straight Pro Bowls after a breakout year in 2015, Barr was one of four Minnesota players eligible for a contract extension last offseason.

Case Keenum trade brings pros and cons to Redskins
Now it appears that the quarterback that Denver paid for last offseason will be playing for his third team in as many years. The Broncos will also adjust Keenum's contract for Washington as part of the trade, Rapoport reported .

Given that Barr will now be doing his thing as a pure pass rusher in the Jets' 3-4 scheme, we're expecting big things from him.
