The President took to Twitter weigh in on Chicago prosecutors' decision to drop all charges against Jussie Smollett, calling the case "an embarrassment to our Nation" and suggesting that it would be reviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and DOJ. "It is an embarrassment to our Nation", said the President of the United States after stating that he has called on both parties to review the findings.

There are new twists in the Jussie Smollett investigation after prosecutors dropped all 16 felony charges against the star yesterday.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that if Smollett were not an actor with influence, he would have been held to a different standard. The prosecutor, First Assistant State's Attorney Joe Magats, said thousands of cases have similar resolutions.

Glandian was also grilled by Cooper on why his client wouldn't recognize the two brothers whom Smollett allegedly paid to stage the attack and why they haven't been charged with anything.

A spokeswoman for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office did not immediately return a phone call and email seeking comment Wednesday.

"I just will say, you know, look, in my own view, President Trump just sit this one out, OK?" I don't think anyone political reached out to anyone.

"My job as a police officer is to investigate an incident, gather evidence, gather the facts and present them to the State's Attorney".

She said: "We respectfully request all government agencies involved live up to the ethical tenants of their office". "We stand behind the investigation, we stand behind the decision to charge him and we stand behind the charges in the case".

Smollett told police he was attacked around 2 a.m. on his way home from a sandwich shop.

In yet another twist to the case, all the charges against him were dropped on 26 March. Investigators alleged Smollett staged the attack with the hopes of gaining attention and advancing his career.

Brian Watson, Smollett's lawyer at the hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, did not challenge Spears' representation in court.

Smollett faced 16 felony disorderly conduct charges.

Natalie Spears, the Tribune's attorney, told Judge LeRoy Martin Jr., however, that Smollett's lawyer told her outside of court that the actor's legal team does not plan to seek to expunge the case now that Cook County prosecutors had thrown out the charges.

The letter came as Smollett's attorneys said city officials should stop referring to the case and as Foxx defended the decision to drop the charges.

Trump tweeted on Thursday morning after the charges against the Empire actor, accused of hoaxing a racist hate crime, were dropped under a deal with prosecutors.

But Foxx said a guilty verdict probably wouldn't have led to harsher consequences for the actor.

"I've heard that they wanted their day in court with TV cameras so that America could know the truth".
