Pete Buttigieg officially launches his 2020 U.S. presidential bid

The gay, liberal mayor of a small United States city in the conservative stronghold of in officially launched his presidential bid Sunday, joining an increasingly crowded field of Democrats competing for their party's 2020 nomination.

Buttigieg addressed a capacity crowd at Studebaker Building 84, a former vehicle factory in downtown South Bend that has been converted into hub for tech startups, where he outlined his campaign messages centered around the three pillars of security, democracy and freedom.

"This city's story is such a big part of why I'm doing this", he told the crowd.

The progressive Christian candidate later addressed Vice President and former Indiana Governor Pence's comments accusing Buttigieg of criticizing Pence's faith.

Buttigieg is the first openly gay major presidential candidate, which has given him inroads into a Democratic base that increasingly values diversity and progressivism.

"Our marriage exists by the grace of a single vote on the U.S. Supreme Court", he said. In the hours after his announcement, more than $1 million in donations poured in, said Lis Smith, speaking for the campaign.

The wicketkeeper-batsman went on to play until the 19th over and notched 81 runs from 52 balls with six boundaries and four sixes. Bumrah accounted for the wickets of Sanju Samson and Steve Smith as Mumbai Indians almost pulled off a stunning victory.

"The principles that will guide my campaign for president are simple enough to fit on a bumper sticker: freedom, security, and democracy", he continued. So, too, has Chasten Buttigieg, the mayor's husband and a teacher, who has become an omnipresent feature of political Twitter and, according to aides, is slated to do a number of solo speeches, primarily to LGBTQ and education groups.

The two kissed on stage after the speech, grinning and holding hands before the roaring crowd.

Buttigieg argued that the best way for Democrats to defeat President Trump may be to nominate a mayor experienced in helping to revive a Midwestern city once described as "dying", rather than a politician who has spent years "marinating" in Washington.

Meanwhile, his husband, Chasten, has become a favorite of Democrats on social media, and Buttigieg has landed on the cover of national magazines, including NY magazine this week, with the headline "How about Pete?". "I am so excited to see change, to see this country brought together and united and to see a country that lives up to all the hype it has outside of it you know?" Hickenlooper has said that Medicare-for-all should not be "a litmus test of what it takes to be a good Democrat".

Bookmakers have Donald Trump as an overwhelming favourite to win four more years in the White House and Buttigieg remains an outsider to even be on the Democratic ticket.

"They're selling an impossible promise that we can return to a bygone era that was never as great as advertised", he said.

Bryson DeChambeau, who shared the 18-hole lead with Koepka, went bogey-double bogey around the turn and shot 75. This is now three straight majors that I've been in the mix and so it's good stuff".

But others in this once-industrial town feel left out, despite what Buttigieg has done.

Bernie Sanders had thousands of dollars in credit card debt listed on his disclosure forms until 2016. Now Hewitt is 23, living in South Bend and volunteering for the campaign of James Mueller, the candidate Buttigieg endorsed to replace him in this year's mayoral election. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of MA. On Sunday, forced inside by an unseasonably cold rain, the small-city mayor and unlikely presidential contender announced his campaign in an auto-assembly plant refurbished as a mixed-use tech center.

But as the chairman of the Ohio Democratic Committee notes the capacities of both Booker and Buttigieg to connect with voters in the country's second tier cities, the South Bend brand is bullishly ramrodding the local message from his sitting bully pulpit of that city.

"He's so familiar, and suddenly we're seeing him on the national spotlight", Wetherall said.

Right now in the Democratic race, momentum has a very amusing name; Buttigieg.
